Jennifer L. Gray

Award-Winning Litigator & Certified Mediator

Jennifer L. Gray has practised law since 2003 and provides legal counsel and representation primarily in family law, personal injury, insurance disputes, and general civil litigation. Raised in the Fraser Valley, she completed a Criminal Justice degree at the University of the Fraser Valley in 1997 and earned her law degree from the University of New Brunswick in 2002.

Jennifer is the recipient of the 2023 Women in Law award for Canada’s Personal Injury Litigation Lawyer of the Year. Her work is informed by a long-standing focus on conflict dynamics, including academic recognition for her studies on violence among families and youth, and advanced training in resolving high-conflict disputes in the family law context.

As part of her dispute-resolution toolkit, Jennifer is also an accredited Civil and Family Mediator (certified and practising since 2021) and has participated in countless mediations throughout her legal career. When appropriate, she assists clients in resolving matters efficiently through negotiation or mediation—bringing a calm, practical approach—while remaining prepared to advocate firmly through litigation when required.

Values and Approach

  • Neutral and Respectful

Jennifer acts as an independent neutral, giving each party an equal opportunity to be heard and contribute to the resolution process. Jennifer encourages creative solutions tailored to meet the individual needs of the parties. Mediation sessions are structured to facilitate productive discussions, particularly when previous negotiations have failed due to high conflict disputes. All mediation sessions are confidential.

  • Legally Informed

As a neutral mediator, Jennifer does not offer either party legal advice. Parties are encouraged to seek independent legal advice as and when needed throughout the mediation process. However, as a lawyer-mediator with experience in family law, high conflict dynamics, personal injury and insurance claims, Jennifer is live to the legal issues at stake, can provide basic legal information and parties can rely on her years of experience working through all stages of a lawsuit for guidance.

  • Clear and Structured

A step-by-step process: individual intake and screening, an agreement to mediate, a defined agenda, joint and private (“shuttle”) discussions where helpful, and written terms with next steps. You’ll know what to expect at every stage.

  • Flexible Formats

Mediation is available virtually (secure video) or in person. Half-day or full-day bookings, with the option of shuttle mediation for sensitive matters.

  • Local and Mobile

In person across the Fraser Valley and Greater Vancouver, and by arrangement in Merritt, Kamloops, Salmon Arm, Vernon, and nearby rural communities. Virtual mediation is available anywhere in BC.
